Noumed is transitioning from a pure contract manufacturing model to a hybrid model, expanding both its operational footprint and product led strategy.
However, pandemic-era delays in key regulatory approvals created liquidity pressure at a crucial moment – just as the company needed to invest in:
Traditional bank lending proved too slow, insufficiently flexible, and lacked the multi-currency capability Noumed required to support its global operations.
To address these challenges, Noumed needed a fast, scalable, international funding solution.
Noumed engaged Forvis Mazars’ Debt Advisory team, who led the process of identifying, structuring, and securing a funding solution capable of supporting both immediate requirements and long term growth.
Mazars recognised that Noumed required:
“Our role was to ensure Noumed had the right capital structure to support its future growth. Accelerated Payments’ solution was a key element in achieving this.” –
Josh Thorneycroft, Partner – Debt Advisory, Forvis Mazars
As Noumed Life Sciences Limited’s senior lender, ELEUTHERA SPC – SIG-i Euro Mezz II SP (“SEM2”), a fund managed by SIG-i Capital AG (“SIG-i”) committed £12m to support the recapitalisation of the business.
SIG-i is a specialist capital solutions provider founded by former Credit Suisse Special Investments Group executives. The team’s experience in complex credit situations, structuring flexibility and ability to complement credit analysis with long term equity view, as well as a prior knowledge of Noumed allowed them to move quickly and align with the strategic needs of the borrower.
SIG-i’s involvement provided:
“In Noumed Life Sciences Limited we saw a business with a committed shareholder and dedicated management who have staked their lot on the complex niche business of generic pharmaceuticals, but whose growth has been hampered by the constraints of its prior financing arrangements. The investment structure created by SIG-i aligns all the stakeholders for success with the use of clear incentives. Partnering with Mazars and Accelerated Payments allowed us to deliver a coordinated solution that will support the rollout of Noumed’s business.”
— Jakub Topp, Chief Investment Officer of SIG-i Capital AG
To complement SIG-i’s senior debt, Accelerated Payments designed a £4m disclosed invoice finance facility, incorporating an accordion option to increase capacity to £8m as Noumed scales.
The solution addressed Noumed’s operational liquidity constraints while supporting global activity across multiple jurisdictions and currencies.
Key Features of the Accelerated Payments Facility
“Our priority was to deliver a flexible, international facility that supports Noumed’s momentum. The ability to fund globally and scale with demand is exactly what businesses of this size and ambition require.”
Michael Rose, Head of UK, Accelerated Payments
The combined funding package – structured by Forvis Mazars, supported by SIG-i’s senior lending, and delivered through Accelerated Payments’ flexible working capital facility – enabled Noumed to:
This collaboration demonstrates how advisors, senior lenders, and specialist funders can work together to deliver a strategic, multi layered solution for businesses with complex international needs.
